Your actions speak so loudly I can't hear what you say.
When dealing with a public policy issue, our Biblical Worldview offers direction. Based on scripture we can defend “how” the Body of Christ will view an issue. However, more difficult is the answer to the question legislators ask, “What are people doing to fix this problem?”
As you know, knowing what we believe and doing something about it are entirely two different matters.
Has anyone ever said to you, “Don’t listen to what I say, watch what I do.” “Your actions speak so loudly I cannot hear what you say.” “Some of the greatest intentions die for lack of action.”
A personal, sad emotional story is often used by politicians to support their case for their solution. A recent example in Pierre went something like this, “Let me tell you the story of Amber, she’s four and she’s never owned her own book…she’s never seen an orange peeled…”
This story was followed by the politicians solution for Amber’s problems, Government preschool for four year olds.
Here’s my point, many of us have been faced with the dire situations of life. We dealt with our situations without government intervention. However, had a government programs been there, at taxpayer expense, would we have tried to take advantage of something that was unnecessary but free?
